Bulletin No. 53 to all IRSE members |
March 2024 |
Welcome to your March newsletter from the IRSE. |
Dear Anshul,
Welcome to this month's e-bulletin. As the closing date for IRSE Council elections fast approaches, I would like to remind all corporate members to check their email for correspondence about how to vote from Mi-Voice, sent on 12th February. All votes must be cast no later than midday (GMT) on 11 March.
Thanks to all eligible members who took the time to complete our questionnaire seeking views on the proposal for the IRSE to apply for a Royal Charter. As a result of the positive feedback wereceived from you, Council gave their approval last month for a vote to be taken on this proposal at our April AGM.

I'm excited to meet with industry colleagues at today's IMechE Rail Division luncheon, which I will be attending with Senior Vice President Jane Power. I'm reminded how valuable events like this can be for connecting and building professional networks and look forward with enthusiasm to our own upcoming Annual Dinner in May. At this time many of you will be focussed on preparations to sit this month's IRSE exam. I'd like to wish all candidates good luck and offer my thanks to the Younger Members section and volunteers who work so hard to provide preparatory study events and online materials to assist them.
This is also the time of year, ahead of the annual subscription renewal process, to let us know if you wish to change your membership preferences; please scroll down for further details. Please also check that we have your latest contact details. |

Chartered Status Update |
Results from our recent survey showed that an overwhelming majority of respondents believe the time is now right for us to apply for a Royal Charter and, as a result, Council has given approval for a formal vote to be taken on this matter at next month’s AGM. A charter provides formal recognition of the professionalism of our membership and would mark our pre-eminent expertise in global railway signalling, communications and train control. It would position us at the right level in future dealings with governments, other professional organisations and academia across the world. More information and FAQs covering all aspects of a Royal Charter are available on the website and details on how to vote will be sent to those eligible ahead of the AGM.
To find out more, and to keep up-to-date with decisions and changes, please keep an eye on our webpage https://www.irse.org/Get-Involved/Royal-Charter
